A Corporate Halloween Party in Downtown Toronto

The Raptors at Manor Mal

The Toronto Raptors held their Halloween party on our second floor, a cocktail reception for 125 hosted by Jamal Shead. Shead is from Austin, so Decor & More built a haunted Texas set called Manor Mal, and the players took turns at karaoke.

A corridor of slatted barn wood walls lit red and violet, chains hanging from the beams, a bat and a crow on top, a Danger sign in the hay at its mouth, and the Raptors claw at the far end.

Inside Manor Mal

  1. Looking out past the end post of the slatted corridor, hung with a chain, into the room: a figure with a chainsaw on crates in the hay, and the bar under the arched windows.

    The corridor

A tunnel of slatted barn walls, chains hung from the beams, a bat and a crow overhead, and a sign at the mouth: Danger! Enter at your own risk. The Raptors claw is at the far end.

  2. A rocking chair with a coat over it, hay bales, crates and a lantern beside a weathered wooden sign painted Manor Mal with an outline of Texas, in front of tall French doors.

    The porch

The Manor Mal sign has a star in an outline of Texas, and Shead went to high school in Manor, Texas. Below it, a rocking chair, hay bales, crates and a lantern against the French doors. The photo booth was set up in front of it.

  3. A life size figure holding a chainsaw stands on a wooden crate among hay bales and a barrel, a small windmill beside him, with Help and a bloody handprint painted on the arched windows behind.

    The yard

A figure with a chainsaw on a crate in the hay, a barrel beside him, and a windmill with the Raptors logo at its hub. Help, in dripping red, across the arched windows.

  4. The bar wrapped in dark barn wood with a bull skull and a Raptors Halloween sign on its front, bottles lined up on top, and a Leave Now sign in the arched window behind.
A tall red and orange cocktail with cherries and a pick, on a black bar mat.

    The bar

Wrapped in weathered barn wood, with a bull skull and a Raptors Halloween sign on the front. Leave Now went up on the window behind it.

  5. Grey tombstones and an angel statue at the foot of a slatted wooden wall draped in cobwebs, lit red and violet.

    The graveyard

Tombstones and a stone angel along the back of the slatted walls, under cobwebs.

  6. A giant skeleton pulling itself out of the floor in front of crates, a film projected across the white brick wall behind, and leather chesterfield sofas in the lounge.
A long dark wooden table with candles down its length and the Raptors claw at its centre, a skeleton at the far end.
    The long table

    The lounge

A skeleton climbing out of the floor, a horror film playing across the white brick, and the chesterfields in front of it. Down the long table, candles and the claw.
